How do I feel when my beliefs are challenged? (Because I happen to do that often)

  • I feel alive!

Challenging my beliefs makes me feel alive because it forces me to think.

It makes me question my assumptions.

It provides me with an opportunity to expand my Psyche Umwelt.

  • I feel a sense of accomplishment

Because I get to apply my reasoning skills.

I get to maneuver my mental models.

I get to apply the logical fallacies I have been learning: ad hominem, straw man, appeal to authority, and many more.

  • I feel the fear and anxiety

My amygdala activates, causing the fight-or-flight response.

I feel like my survival is being threatened; my existence is in danger.

  • I feel Humbled

When I can maintain my stance, I feel humbled by the ability to organize my thoughts and apply what I’ve learned.

When I can’t maintain my stance, I feel humbled by the opportunity to learn something new and gain a fresh perspective.

When I challenge my beliefs, my Psyche Umwelt expands.
